Professional Achievement Awards

Entries will be judged on the candidate’s positive aspects and measurable work performance for the period of January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.

Cat 01 – Rookie Salesperson of the Year – less than 2 years of selling
Cat 02 – Salesperson of the Year with a Company Closing less than 250 Homes a Year
Cat 03 – Salesperson of the Year with a Company Closing 250 or more Homes a Year

Marketing

Cat 16 – Best Logo Design

Entry will be judged on overall logo design, readability and execution.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form
  • Image Requirements: 6 to 8 images of the following: Logo in color, logo in black and white and various examples of logo in use. (brochure, signage, letterhead, etc.)

Cat 17 – Best Print Advertising

Entry will be judged on concept, creativity, copy, layout, overall design, and execution and continuity.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/Project Statement
  • One (1) image of ad submitted

Cat 18 – Best Brochure for a Builder or Community

Entry will be judged on concept, creativity, copy, layout, overall design, readability.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form
  • Image of Brochure in .jpeg format.
  • Sample brochure – delivered by March 15 to HBACA Offices

Cat 19 – Best Special Promotion – Special Event or Limited Time Sales Program

Entry will be judged on creativity, design, and success of materials developed to gain product interest. Includes? a series of ads, print and electronic media.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form
  • Submit images of promotion – photos of events suggested
  • Submit images of ads that represent the campaign. May include any or all of the following: print advertising, direct mail, television and radio spots, billboards, etc. – .jpeg or PDF format
  • Television and radio submissions should be sent as Audio Files (mp3) file and Video file (.mov or quicktime file)

Cat 20 – Best Online Marketing Campaign – eblasts, banners, newsletters

Entry will be judged on concept, creativity, copy, layout, and results of campaign.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form including link to actual campaign
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry.

Cat 21 – Best Social Media Campaign

Entry will be judged on concept, creativity, copy, layout, overall design, and execution and continuity.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/Project Statement
  • Up to six (6) images that represent entry
  • Link to actual campaign highly encouraged

Cat 22 – Best Innovative Use of Technology

Entry will be judged on creativity, user experience, overall design, and effectiveness.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form including link to actual campaign
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry
  • Images of pages (home page, category pages, etc.)
  • Video File of video animation (.mov or quicktime file)

Cat 23 – Best Media – Video or Radio Commercial

Entry will be judged on originality, concept, and execution of the spot as it relates to specified target market and qualified traffic the ad generated.

Entry Requirements:

  • Completed Team/Project Statement
  • One video file (.mov or QuickTime file) of the TV spot
  • One audio file (mp3) of the radio spot
  • 2 to 4 Images that represent entry

Cat 24 – Best Overall Advertising Campaign

Entry will be judged on creativity, design, and success of materials developed to gain product interest. Includes ads, print and electronic media, and billboards.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form including link to actual campaign
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry.
  • May include any or all of the following: print advertising, direct mail, television and radio spots, billboards, etc. Used for judging and displays. Television and radio submissions should be sent digitally – Video (.mov) files – Audio (.mp3) files.

Cat 25 – Best Virtual Sales Program – NEW

Entry will be judged on creativity, user experience, overall design, and effectiveness.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form including link to actual campaign
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry
  • Images of pages (home page, category pages, etc.)
  • Video File (.mov or quicktime file)

Cat 26 – Best Website

Awards may be presented for Builder, Community and/or Associate.

Entry will be judged based on quality of design, ease of obtaining information, and organization of message.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form including Link to website – must be fully updated and live|
    by January 26th
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry.

Cat 27 – Best Signage Program

Awards may be presented for: Neighborhood – single builder and product line OR Community – Multiple product lines.

Entry will be judged on concept, creativity, basic graphics and layout, design, execution, readability, and continuity. Includes onsite and offsite signage.

  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry.

Design Awards

Cat 28 – Best Sales Office within a Model

Entry will be judged on theme, function, display concept, creativity, and design used in the office, as well as the use of tools and technologies to achieve sales success.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry – may include the following: exterior entrance, overall interior, topography table, impact graphic, renderings, displays, and/or closing office.
  • Floor Plan of office layout showing layout of exhibits.

Cat 29 – Best Sales Pavilion

Entry will be judged on theme, function, display concept, creativity, and design used in the office, as well as the use of tools and technologies to achieve sales success.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form
  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry – may include the following: exterior entrance, overall interior, topography table, impact graphic, renderings, displays, and/or closing office.
  • Floor Plan of office layout showing layout of exhibits.

Cat 30 – Best Design Center

Entry will be judged on theme, function, display concept, creativity and design used in the space, 

as well as quality of product presentation, continuity within the space and continuity with the builders’ branding.

Cat 31 – Best Community Amenity Feature- NEW

Entry will be judged on the effectiveness, impact, and function in enhancing the project.

Cat 32 – Best Model Complex Landscape Design- NEW

Awards may be presented based on price range of community.

Entry will be judged on the landscape effectiveness, impact, and function in enhancing the product or project. Landscaping includes ground cover, hardscape, and softscape.

Cat 33 – Best Outdoor Living Space of a Home Priced Under $500,000
Cat 34 – Best Outdoor Living Space of a Home Priced $500,000 to $700,000
Cat 35 – Best Outdoor Living Space of a Home Priced over $700,000

Entry will be judged on concept, creativity, impact of furniture and accessories.

Cat 36 – Best Interior Merchandising of a Detached Home priced under $300,000
Cat 37 – Best Interior Merchandising of a Detached Home priced $300,000 – $500,000

Cat 39 – Best Interior Merchandising of a Detached Home priced $700,000 – $1Million

Cat 44 – Best Architectural Design of a Detached Home – 55 to 65 ft wide
Cat 45 – Best Architectural Design of a Detached Home – over 65 ft wide
Cat 46 – Best Architectural Design – Attached Home Plan – under 2,000 sq ft
Cat 47 – Best Architectural Design – Attached Home Plan – over 2,000 sq ft
Cat 48 – Best Architectural Design – Active Adult Home Plan – under 1,800 sq ft
Cat 49 – Best Architectural Design – Active Adult Home Plan – 1,800 to 2,500 sq ft
Cat 50 – Best Architectural Design – Active Adult Home Plan – over 2,500 sq ft

Entry will be judged on overall exterior and interior architecture, design appeal, function, and creative use of interior space and creative integration of plan design with site considerations.

Cat 51 – Home of the Year (Production Home) *
Cat 52 – Active Adult Home of the Year (Production Home) *

Home must be submitted in Interior/Architectural Design to compete.

Must have entered in interior merchandising and architectural design category.

Winner will be determined based upon points from qualifying categories, and judges review.

  • 6 to 8 images that represent entry: Front exterior, Living room, dining room, master bedroom, kitchen/family room area or other unique spaces.

  • Optional – virtual tour of plan submitted

The categories above are for production homes entries only.  No custom product will be accepted.

Custom Homes

Cat 53 – Custom Home of the Year – Under 5,000 sq. ft.
Cat 54 – Custom Home of the Year – 5,000 to 7,500 sq. ft.
Cat 55 – Custom Home of the Year – Over 7,500 sq. ft.

Judged on overall exterior and interior architectural appeal, creative use of interior space and functionality of floor plan. Interior design is not part of judging criteria.

Entry Requirements:

  • Completed Team/Project Statement
  • 4 to 8 images that represent entry – Suggested: exterior, living room, dining room, master bedroom, kitchen/family room area or other unique spaces.
  • Floor plan
  • Optional – virtual tour of plan submitted

Community Honors

The Community of the Year Awards are presented to the HBACA Builder/Developer for the best overall marketing and community presentation of a community. The Community of the Year Award will be determined by the CUMULATIVE point totals in selected categories in addition to being judged by physical tour of the Community of the Year Award finalists. The sum of these scores determines the Community of the Year Award winner.

Community of the Year will be judged based on:

Design and sensitivity to natural or created environments, Design appeal, Creative use of space, materials, amenities, Architectural continuity, Landscape design and signage, and Overall sales success.

Cat 56 – Community of the Year * must submit in 4 categories to be eligible

To be eligible for Community of the Year – must have entered the following: Logo, Brochure, Ad, Sales Office or Amenity, Interiors and Architectural Design.

Entry Requirements:

  • Team/ Information Form
  • Site plan of the community
  • Six (6) to Twelve (12) images of community – Exteriors, landscape, interiors, signage, sales office, etc.
  • An on-site tour of the community finalists will be conducted by the judges.
  • Virtual Tour of the community if available

Builder Awards

Cat 57 – Builder of the Year – Custom Builder
Cat 58 – Builder of the Year – Production Builder up to 250 Closings
Cat 59 – Builder of the Year – Production Builder over 250 Closings

Designed to recognize innovative market performance, trade relationships, and community involvement.

Entry Requirements:

  • Completed Builder of the Year entry form
  • 6 to 8 images that represent the firm

Judges will score the responses to each question based on point assignments to determine the overall winner as well as:

  • To be eligible for Builder of the Year, a builder must have entries in Advertising, Merchandising, Design, and Individual award categories.
  • The highest point total attainable is 10 in the Advertising categories, 10 in the Interior Merchandising categories, 10 in the Product Design categories, 10 in the Individual categories, and 10 for additional entry items for a grand total of 50 points.

If less than two (2) builders qualify, no award will be presented.


Sales Achievement

The Home Builders Association recognizes sales associates who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in net sales. Net sales dollar volume represents net sales made by an individual sales associate, not the dollar volume of junior sales associates working with them. The outstanding achievement in net sales applies to the following categories:

  • $4-8 Million
  • $8-10 Million
  • $10-12 Million
  • $12-15 Million
  • $15-20 Million
  • Over $20 Million

Top Ten Achievement Awards

Each year, the top ten sales associate producers will be recognized. These top guns will reflect the high quality of the sales associates. These awards will be presented at the MAME awards program.
